CLIPS FOR SHARING |
The clips in the PIXnMIX Candy Jar are intended for sharing. They are
shared under a Creative Commons licence – specifically, the Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike
licence, which you can read in full here: http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/2.0/.
They remain the intellectual property of the original owners/creators,
but you can download and use them subject to the terms of that licence.
NO COMMERCIAL USE |
You are allowed to use the clips in your own creative work, but not for
commercial use of any kind. This does not however prevent you from using
them in the context of performing a live show, even where the audience
are paying to get in. (But if you wanted then to sell a recording of the
live show, that would be commercial use.) Likewise any paid commissioned
production work using the clips would be commercial use and as such, not
allowed.

GETTING PERMISSION FOR COMMERCIAL USE |
If you do wish to use any of these clips commercially,
you are advised to contact the owner (whose details are in the clip information
on the PIXnMIX website) and ask for their permission and whether they
have any conditions regarding how you use their clips. If you would be
making money from them, you should probably offer them some – most
of these clips are generated by VJs for VJs!

CREDITING THE CREATOR |
If you make use of material from the PIXnMIX Candy Jar, the licence does
require you to credit the source, in a way 'reasonable to the medium'
of VJing. So, for example, a note on your website (not buried too deep!)
that you use PIXnMIX Candy Jar clips in your shows is one 'reasonable'
way of fulfilling this requirement.
Where you have access to printed credits in a programme or an on-screen
credit roll in association with a show, you should credit either the PIXnMIX
Candy Jar or the individual creators/owners of the clips you use. Why
not add it into your links page and biog for promoters?
Right-click this PIXnMIX logo to download and use on your site or in
publicity materials.

SHARE AND SHARE ALIKE |
The Creative Commons licence mentioned above asks you to share anything
you make from the clips on the same terms as you download them.
The whole idea of the PIXnMIX Candy Jar is to enable and encourage VJs
to share footage at a useable quality for live shows on a fair basis and
without being over-restrictive. The plan is to expand the Candy Jar in
due course by making it possible for VJs to upload their own clips for
sharing as well as downloading them.

relevance to you whether you're a full-time professional VJ, kicking back
from the day job, or just starting out.
